Explanation of concave hull design |
The basis behind the Jammer copyrighted concave design is fairly simple. We took out what can only be termed a "pivot point" in a standard canoe hull. By doing this, for example if weight is transferred to one side, two things happen... First, the water creates a pushing force by the mass and boyancy of the hull on the side, and second , a vacuum created on the opposite side by the shape of the hull not wanting to let go. Both actions are trying to keep the canoe stable, where a standard hull has no such provisions. On calmer waters this hull design allows air to be entrapt under the high point of the hull which reduces draft and drag. By the nature of this design, sponsons are formed on both edges which makes for great tracking. |
